Due to poor snow conditions, we are sorry to announce that the Troll is cancelled this year

OPEN Technique Day Cancelled – Dec 27th

The OPEN Technique Day for December 27th has been CANCELLED due to the forecasted high of -21C (this not to occur until early afternoon). The ENSC policy is not to have any formal training if colder than -20C and at 10:00 am the forecast is for -24C.

There is a second OPEN Technique Day on Wednesday January 3…stay tuned.

Grooming is excellent at SWC, especially for skating but also good for classic…and good snow. Goldbar has been groomed and track set, and Camrose has good ski conditions as well. It will be cold the next few days, but if you dress in layers, wear a buff or two, and put on a some warm mitts, you can get out and ski; even in the cold. Go slow but steady!

Snow for Christmas!!

We’re back on for skiing!! We received a couple or three cm of new snow plus the aggressive snow making at Goldbar has made it possible to ski there again ūüôā¬†Lower Goldbar including 50st have been packed and tracked with an adjusted two way trail around the lake. Good tracks though shallow on the ice in some areas.¬†Woodcutters and Capilano have not been groomed yet.

SWC is good for skiing too. They received more snow than we did and with this addition we know the skiing will be excellent there. As well, Camrose has good skiing again. We now have choices this Christmas holiday. Get out and ski as much as possible!! ūüôā

Grooming Report – 24th December

Thursday Night’s Practice is Cancelled

Thursday Night’s practice is cancelled. Snow making is under way but only the stadium area (beside the pavilion) has been done… but more will be worked on in the coming days. Maybe even by Christmas we will have our full 3km of man made snow on the ground…but alas, skiing at the moment is going back and forth on the 130m or so of made snow (I know because we were out there last night doing just that!).

Therefore take heart; snow is coming! Stay tuned for the technique day on the 27th. Currently slated for SWC but will let you know if this is still viable.

Ski the Break with Edmonton Nordic Ski Club

Learn to Skate Ski

Get out and enjoy the winter this holiday break. Learn to skate ski with Edmonton Nordic! We will be offering lessons for youth ages 10 -14 yrs. No experience or equipment is needed. In three lessons we will introduce the basics of skate skiing and have tons of fun!

Two sessions

Hawrelak Park on Tuesday

The Oval is booked and in use exclusively by the speed skating club, so we will have to move…to Hawrelak Park. Not the skating rink/pond but at the acetate they have put down pretty much where we did our fall training. And don’t forget to bring some baked goods ūüôā
