Classic Scared Stiff of Hills - 3 weeks Cost: $36

Participants may have fair to good diagonal stride, double poling and stationary turns (kick turn) however, their technique on hills (including straight running and snowplow) keeps them from complete enjoyment of the sport. In the "Scared Stiff of Hills" course, the content focuses on participants' downhill technique to build confidence in their ability to go down hills in control.

For persons who have never skiied before. Course content is divided equally between proper diagonal stride and hills. The pace is slow and easy and much of the instruction takes place on a grid.

For beginning skiers focuses on improving both diagonal stride and downhill turns. Participants in the refresher are expected to have reasonable fitness and would like to improve technique. Or goal is to be able to ski all the Gold Bar loops and this course is aimed at persons who are comfortable (though not necessarily skilled) at going downhill. This course is also appropriate for fit individuals who would like to learn XC skiing for the first time.

This program is the follow-up course to beginner's class and is designed for the intermediate to advanced skier. Skiers will be taught the advanced form of the basic elements of classic skiing with an emphasis on balance in motion, using core muscles and developing more power in the various techniques. Skiers will also have hands-on experience with performance waxing.
Skate Beginner - 3 weeks Cost: $36

This program is designed for the novice to intermediate skier. The lessons will follow a gradual progression whereby skiers will learn how to skate on the flats and up and down very gradual terrain. Pre-requisite for this course is Classic Beginner.
Skate Advanced - 3 weeks Cost: $36

A class for the intermediate to advanced skier. Participants will be taught the advanced form of the basic elements of ski skating with an emphasis on varied terrain skiing. Pre-requisite for this course is Skate Beginner or equivalent.
Adult Training Group Session 1: 10 weeks before Xmas. Cost $100
Starting October 18 Tuesdays 6:30
Offered at two levels. The first session starts with dryland training and continues on snow. Both classic and skate techniques are taught.
Adult Training Group Session 2: 10 weeks after Xmas. Cost $100
Starting January 3 Tuesdays 6:30
This 10-week program will focus on technique development for the advanced skier with a format that combines skill improvement with fitness and coaching. This group is intended for skiers with an excellent base of technique and who wish to join with others for a more rigorous training session. Expect a challenging workout in this group as most participants are competing at a recreational level.
Birkie Prep: 4 weeks Cost $48
Starting January 8 Sundays 7:00
Participants should be very comfortable with the fundamentals of classical technique and ideally have been skiing for a few years. Emphasis will be on Birkie specific technique. This 4 week session will give some general pointers on loppet preparation and training including waxing for longer distances.
For each course download a registration form. This needs to be filled in and given to the instructor on the first day of class.
All classes run 1.5hr. Refunds are not available.
All lessons are held in Gold Bar Park, 10955 50 Street.

Fast Trax Run & Ski Shop and Track ‘n Trail hold several wax clinics, for both beginners and advanced skiers, throughout the year.
