JACKRABBIT VOLUNTEER DUTIES

These volunteer duties involve a one time commitment from each family.

Weekly Setup Helper (2 families needed each week)
The volunteers will need to arrive early to help with the setup of the lesson.  On days when we are at Goldbar, they would open up the shed, bring the equipment box to the pavilion, and do any other setup required for the class (signage, course setup, etc.). At the end of the lesson, the volunteers would take down any equipment and return it to the shed.
When a lesson is away from Goldbar (e.g. Islet lake), the volunteers would help with setup related to the break. For example, at Islet lake they would help with building a fire for the kids to come back to after the ski.

Hot Chocolate Preparation (2 families needed each week)
The Jackrabbit program will provide hot chocolate for those attending the lesson at Goldbar each week. We will need 2 families to help make up the hot chocolate for the break each week. All the supplies will be provided by the club.

Check-in/Registration Day Assistance (2 families)
Collect any registration information and money owed by parents. Deal with signup lists for Jackrabbit volunteer duties.

Beckie Scott “Sprint” Setup (3-5 families)
The Beckie Scott Sprints are timed “sprints” of 100 meters for all the Jackrabbit kids. Based on the time that it takes to complete the distance the Jackrabbit skiers are given one of five awards. Volunteers will be needed to measure and mark the courses, marshal the kids and time the “sprints”.  Additional parents are usually recruited to help out with the handing out of the awards to the kids.

Buff and Toque Sales (3 families)
During the break of one lesson each year the club sells their buffs and toque’s with the club colours and logo on them. We need up to 3 people to run the sales table.

Jackrabbit Enrolment Kits and Booklets Distribution (3 families)
As a Jackrabbit participant, each child receives an enrolment kit each year and a booklet that they put their program awards and level badges in. We need the assistance of three families to help with handing out the enrolment kits and booklets.

Ski Playground Construction Crew (3 families)
Each year we build a ski playground and terrain park for the kids on the hill overlooking the Goldbar pond. We need some volunteers each year to build the jumps, bumps and runs!

Family Fun Day Volunteers (10-15 families)
The last lesson of the season is always a Family Fun Day for the whole Jackrabbit program involving a BBQ, games and races/loppet. This involves a lot of parent involvement because the Jackrabbit leaders are involved in the final assessment of the kids. Therefore, volunteers will be needed to setup and organize the food and activities.
