Thank you from the Gottschalks to everyone at ENSC for all their support

All of us, myself Alexandra and Samantha just wanted to thank everyone in Club for all their words of kindness, words of support, condolences, food, and flowers.

It was very helpful at a time of great sadness for us.  They were a huge consolation to us and all of our family.  Knowing your thoughts, prayers and wishes were with us helped immensely at easing the burden of this tragedy.

To those who came to Laurel’s Celebration of Life thank you so much, and to those who could not be there, please know that Laurel tried to live every day to its fullest.  She loved her skiing (and roller skiing too), always made time for the things she enjoyed and that she will always be with us in our hearts when we are on the trails.

Roller Ski Training on Thursday

It is raining out and although we won’t melt I do think it best that we come to training prepared to run instead of roller skiing. Bring both roller skis and runners but likely we will choose to run instead of roller skiing tonight as a result of the many leaves and debris on the paved trail;  makes the conditions slippery and unsafe.
Bring striding poles and some dry clothes for after training…you will get wet 🙂

Fall / Winter Programs: There is still space – register now!

Cross Country and Biathlon programs are OPEN for registration on Zone4 HERE

Program information can be found for the 2017-2018 season below:

Full details for this position can be viewed HERE

Contact for more information.

Laurel Middendorf

Long time ENSC member and volunteer, wife of Russell Gottschalk, mother of Samantha and Alexandra Gottschalk, passed away unexpectedly at home on Tuesday September 12th.

Laurel trained and raced with our Adult Development group and was a pharmacist, gifted runner, gardener and bird lover.
Laurel volunteered countless hours not only to ENSC but to other organizations such as the Silver Skate Festival, where she found time to race the winter triathlon in addition to organizing it. Laurel will be remembered for her cheerful and caring approach to life as well her dedication to her family and sports.
Laurel’s twin daughters are in the Youth Racers program and have skied with ENSC for nearly 15 years since they were Jackrabbits. Laurel’s husband Russell is on the Adult Racers program and sits on the ENSC board as a Nordic program coordinator.
A viewing is scheduled for Monday, September 18, 6 – 7:30 pm, and a celebration of Laurel’s life will take place on Wednesday, September 20 at 2 pm at South Side Memorial Chapel, 8310-104 St., Edmonton. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Alberta Cancer Foundation
Please lend your support to the Gottschalk family during this difficult time.
