Edmonton Nordic offers lessons and development programs for kids starting as young as three years old!
Here are the opportunities for kids to become involved in our sport:
The Jackrabbit Program is designed to introduce children aged 3 to 12 to the sport of cross-country skiing. It is structured in much the same way as Red Cross and YM/YWCA swim lessons are; children become proficient in the sport by moving through a series of skill levels.
The Track Attack program is for kids between 9 and 14 years old who would like to try out racing and improve their technique and endurance.
Lynx is a program for kids between 9 and 14 years old who have finished Jackrabbits, but who have a more recreational focus than those in the Track Attack Program. This is specially designed for kids who want to keep skiing, have fun, and improve their technique and fitness.
The winter Biathlon Bears program is a great introduction to the exciting sport of Biathlon for kids age 9-12. Biathletes will learn more target shooting skills, do some pre-season training to get ready for winter, and participate in a fun winter biathlon event! All Bears practices take place at the ENCS air rifle range in the ENSC Nordic area. It is taught by Level III Biathlon instructor and CANSI Level III instructor in a combined skiing and shooting program.
