ENSC Recreational Programs
It is sometimes easy to forget that skiing is not just about who can ski the fastest! There's a lot of wilderness out there, and you don't need to don skin-tight lycra to enjoy it.
Edmonton Nordic offers recreational programs for all ages, raging from the Jackrabbit Program to an Adult Social Training Group.
EDMONTON NORDIC RECREATIONAL SKIING PROGRAM FOR 2008/9
Wednesday Night Social Skis
Mid week social skis are planned for Wednesday evenings as soon as snow conditions permit. Be ready to start from the Goldbar shelter at 7 PM. We plan to ski the trials around Goldbar & Goldstick Parks at a leisurely place for hour or so. Other locations in the river valley may also be used so check the ENSC website for updates. For these skis, as we did last season, we will combine with the skiers from the Edmonton Bicycle & Touring Club.
Day Trips
Day trips to ski areas within one half to two hours drive of Edmonton will be held on weekends throughout the season, usually on a Sunday. We will car pool out to the ski venue. Some of the ski areas we plan to visit include, Blackfoot, Fort Saskatchewan, Tawatinaw Valley, Athabasca, Drayton Valley, Chikakoo Lake & Camrose. See Schedule for details. On these trips we usually ski for a few hours and cover distances between 10 – 20 km.
Weekend Trips
This season we are arranging a ski trip in mid February to the Kananaskis/Banff area staying at Canmore. This will give us various options to ski the trails in either Peter Lougheed Park, Canmore Nordic centre & Banff Park. Other weekend trips may be arranged depending on demand.
Annual End to End River Valley Ski
Join us for our annual ski through the Edmonton River Valley from Goldbar Park to Whitemud Creek over the Xmas holidays on Sunday 27 December. If this seems too much, ski as far as our lunch stop at Kinsmen Park.
Other Trips
Other ski trips planned include:
Moonlight ski in Blackfoot
Please note, the venues and dates of these recreational skis are likely to change depending on current snow conditions. We will try to find the places with the best current snow conditions. Please check the website at: http://www.edmontonnordic.ca or contact Mike Stern for the latest updates.
Tel. (780) 433-4328 or Details of meeting places and car pooling options will be decided closer to the event.
Non members are welcome to all events.

Summer 2010
Goldbar
Enjoy running the Goldbar trails - they're almost as much fun in the summer as when you're on skis! Watch out for dog walkers.
