Club Fees - Where does the money go?
I paid them my money, so where does it go?
I paid them my money, so when will it snow?
It seems like a lot, they're a likeable bunch,
To ski with this Club and hear the snow crunch
Those coaches, instructors, officials, they're smart,
The Club pays for their courses so they do their part,
Whether paid a small wage, or they come volunteer,
The Club is much richer, year after year.
At social events it's the burgers we eat,
Paid for by the Club, for the kids they're a treat.
Insurance we pay, so when things they go wrong,
The Club doesn't suffer, and stays around long.
Kevin and Brian and Frank and the rest,
Give of their time to make our trails the best.
Eight thousand kilometres each season they set,
Great equipment they need, oh yes you can bet.
We maintain equipment to groom and set trail,
Refuel it, repair it, so it will not fail.
But when it's kaput and will no longer workie,
Replace it we must before this year's fast Birkie.
A head coach we've hired, I'm told he's quite good,
Les started with Beckie, he helped as he should,
His energy's boundless, his smile vast and pleasant,
Do a great job and we'll give Les a present.
Big dollars we spend on consultants we hire,
On projects like snow-making of this we won't tire.
The City needs plans and proposals and meetings,
We're only too happy to push them with greetings.
Roller skis, targets, propane and some power,
We pay for some waxes, stop watches for hour.
Telephone, web site, cheque books and more,
Jackrabbit booklets and gifts from the store.
It's quite a long list as I'm sure you'll agree,
Great value for money, as I'm sure you can see.
And we've not talked at all of the benefits to,
Our city of skiers who ski with us too.
They come down to Gold Bar, where trails have been set,
See the adults and children, on this you can bet,
They share in the wonder of winter with us,
Glad that someone with spirit and vision and caring,
Put together a Club that has shown all such daring.
