Training This Week: March 9 to March 15

  • World Cup Finale – Canmore – March 20-22
  • CDN National Championships – March 26 to April 2 – Sovereign Lakes (SilverStar)
  • And remember, very rare this March is the World Cup Finale at Canmore Nordic Centre. It’s not often we get a chance to the see the world’s best compete here in Canada so if you get the chance, please take the opportunity!

Monday March 9 :

  • Strength Training
    • Strength as Usual
  • SALOMON S/LAB Select – Edmonton Info Night – Monday February 9 @ Track’n Trail at 7:00 pm
    • Open to ALL ENSC skiers
    • Great information night about next year’s S/LAB skis, boots, bindings, and poles
    • You can “try on for size”
    • You are able to pre-order equipment
      • This is the BEST way to ensure you get the proper fitting skis for next year ūüėÄ

Tuesday March 10:

  • Who: All XC Programs
  • Where: Goldbar Park
  • When: 6:30 – 8:00 pm
  • What: SKATE
    • Coach Directed Training (Usually Intensity)
    • Might be an idea to focus on double poling and 1-SK as this is what will be the “main techniques” of the AB Cup this weekend
  • Technique: SKATE skiing
  • Bring: Appropriate training equipment and a change of warm clothes

Wednesday March 11:

  • Distance/Recovery Ski/Training Day
    • Ski 1.0 to 1.25 hrs at Z1…rest up for the Birkie

Thursday March 12:

  • Who: 3-Day/week Program
  • Where: Goldbar Park
  • When: 6:30 to 8:00
  • What: CLASSIC Skiing
    • Coach Directed Training (Drills and Technique)
  • Technique: CLASSIC ski
  • Bring: Appropriate training equipment and WARM change of clothes for after

Friday March 6: Travel to AYC

  • Pre-ski the AB Cup Course
  • Active Rest Day
  • 30-60 min of “movement” – run, jog, walk, ski – followed by a 15-20min core routine.

Saturday March 14:

  • NO FORMAL TRAINING
    • ENSC AB Cup 7/8 at SWC (Saturday and Sunday)
    • Great chance to race…or volunteer…or come out and cheer!!

Sunday March 15:

  • Volunteer or race at the AB Cup
  • 1.5 to 2.5 hrs LSD
  • Add 4-6 sprints of 10-15 seconds after 30-40min. Ensure you have 2-3 min active, slow skiing between efforts.
