Feb. 13, 2022 Trails and Grooming

Hello Everyone!

The “spring skiing” in February continues – we did not dip below zero last night, however the team was out and the trails are in great spring skiing shape.  The skate tracks are on the soft side with the above zero temps and the classical tracks will glaze up and be fast.

Goldbar: all trails groomed for skate and classical. Good conditions with some icy bottomed track around the lake. Teaching grids re-set.

Capilano: all trails groomed for skate and classical.  Conditions good – one icy spot by the teaching grid.

Goldstick (switchbacks, creek-crossing and creek-crossing loop): groomed for skate the classical.  Fair conditions with some shallow tracks.  Some ice on the trails. Use caution.

Southloop: significant ice on downhills – NOT recommended.

Expect continued “spring” skiing conditions with glazed tracks, soft/slushy areas once the sun hits them, icy areas and overall fast/hard conditions.
Note: Expect conditions to change with the time of day as with typical spring skiing trails and for conditions to be variable depending on sun exposure/shade etc.

Happy Trails from your Edmonton Nordic Grooming Team
