Dec. 7, 2022 Trails/Grooming

The team has made use of the deep-freeze to make some much needed man-made snow.

The trails are in overall good shape.

Capilano: skate lanes freshly groomed with the fresh natural snow skier tracked into the machine set classic tracks.

Goldbar: all skate lanes freshly groomed with the fresh natural snow skier tracked into the machine set classic tracks. The Northshore area is the thinnest area – caution advised with some possible icy areas where the snow is windswept.

Goldstick: all skate lanes groomed prior to the fresh snow last night, so expect 1-2 cm of fresh natural snow getting skier tracked into both the skate lanes and the machine set classic tracks where we were able to place them. Classic skiing skier tracked only on the switchbacks and the south loop.

Snowmaking: the team has made snow in 3 locations: in the stadium area just south of the Goldbar Pavilion, at the top of retaining wall hill heading west on the Hadhirgaan, and on the two-way trails that parallels Goldbar Park Road just across from the City Parks Compound. The team will be removing the snow-guns as the temperatures rise. The “humps” of snow will stay in place to “cure”. Watch for the team working the humps into flat ski trails late this afternoon/evening. In the meantime, caution advised around the humps. Recommend skiing Goldstick/woodcutters and/or Capilano.

Happy Trails from your Edmonton Nordic Grooming Team
