Cross Country Summer Program

ENSC Cross Country Summer Programs 2020

We are committed to providing the same level of quality coaching and training that you are accustomed to this summer…it just might look a little different.

The situation regarding park and facility access and safety recommendations from Alberta Health Services (AHS) during this current health crisis is ever-changing. Physical Distancing measures are still in place to ensure the safety of our community.

Restrictions have begun to be lifted, and small group training in outdoor settings is now permitted. We plan to hold in-person training sessions in accordance with all requirements and recommendations put forth by AHS and our sport governing bodies.

Expected Start Date June 2, 2020

**Programming/scheduling may change pending COVID-19 Pandemic outcomes.

Summer programs are geared toward athletes 13 years and older with interest in the following programs: youth development, youth racers, adult development and adult racers.

Biathlon athletes are welcome and encouraged to participate.

Programming will be delivered in the following ways:

  • Remotely via Training Peaks (TP)
  • Zoom group training sessions
  • Training plans and instruction via email
  • Individualized physical distanced coaching
  • Small-group outdoor in-person sessions (in compliance with AHS requirements)

Athlete safety is of top priority. Please click here to learn more about our Remote Training Guidelines

What we are offering this summer:

  • General and Individualized Training: Training is ski focused with emphasis on endurance, strength, and technique, and is based on a Yearly Training Plan (YTP). Both adults and youth wanting formal training through the summer can participate.
  • Strength Training w/Strength Coach: Strength based training is key to developing “economy of movement” in cross country skiing, and as a means for injury prevention.
  • ADULT Roller Skiing: For adults who want to improve their technique through roller skiing. This program requires group meet-ups and as such Social Distancing measures will be in place.

Head Coach Ulf Kleppe will lead all programs. Assistant coaches if numbers warrant.
