Recreational Ski Group
No Commitment, Lots of Fun
Edmonton Nordic’s recreational ski group is a gathering of skiers looking for a social excursion. To join the fun all you need is appropriate clothing for the weather, a pair of skis, an Edmonton Nordic membership and a smile!
Wednesday Recreational Ski: Starts from the Gold Bar shelter at 7 pm with skiing happening on the Gold Bar, Goldstick, and Capilano trail system. This outing is suitable for skiers of all levels. After the ski, treats and hot chocolate is often shared at the Gold Bar pavilion.
Weekend Ski Trips: Day trips to ski areas within 1-2 hours drive of Edmonton will be held on weekends throughout the season. Registration is needed. Some of the ski areas we plan to visit include Blackfoot, Fort Saskatchewan, Tawatinaw Valley, Drayton Valley (Pembina), Chikakoo Lake & Camrose. On these trips, we usually ski for a few hours and cover distances between 15 and 20 km. These trips are more geared for intermediate skiers. However, many of the areas do have shorter options for less experienced skiers.
