U10 Development

This team builds on the skills acquired in Jackrabbits Level 4 while skiing twice per week, improving skills and fitness through more time on skis. Skiing at least twice per week is recommended for children aged 8-9 in Nordiq Canada’s Skill Development program. 

Who:

  • Those who have successfully completed Jackrabbit (JR) 4, and like having FUN and being active for up to 2 hours.

  • Skiers must be born in 2017 or 2018.

  • The participant will attend two days per week in a full season program (from September to March).

  • Skiers in this program must have had skate ski lessons or learned the basics of skate skiing in JR Level 4. 

What:

  • Fall Session (Dryland): Practices will include games and activities that promote fitness and FUN, using FUNdamental movement skills and activities promoting physical literacy (agility, balance, coordination).

  • Winter Session (On-Snow): Participants acquire basic ski skills for both skating and classic skiing while developing agility, balance, coordination and speed with an emphasis on FUN and participation!

  • All workout, camp and racing information will be communicated through TeamSnap. You will receive an invitation to join the ENSC U10 XC Team a week before the first session on September 8th.

When:

  • September 8th 2026 – March 20th 2027 (weather permitting)

  • Tues 6:30-8pm, 

  • Sat 10-12pm

Where:

  • Dryland locations will vary: Gold Bar Park, Capilano, Rundle Park, Gallagher Park, Kinsmen Park & other locations communicated to participants.

  • On snow location: Gold Bar Park and Capilano with adventure skis happening at locations within an hours drive of Edmonton such at Strathcona Wilderness Centre. These sessions will be communicated well in advance.

Cost:

  • $575 base program cost

  • ENSC Membership, NC/NA Membership, and race support fee if skiers’ choses to join the club at additional races other than AB Cups 5 & 6 in Edmonton, Jan 30 - 31, 2027

Equipment:

  • Skis – classic and skate skis

  • Boots - classic and skate or combi boots

  • Poles - classic and skate poles

  • Headlamp - these are mandatory for late Fall and winter. Participants without headlamps will NOT be able to join the workout.
