U12 Development

WHO: The U12 program is intended for athletes born in 2014 and 2015, who have graduated from Jackrabbits 4, or U10 Development, or demonstrate equivalent skills with coach approval. The participant will attend two days per week in a full season program (from September to March).

Athletes will have FUN skiing or running on Nordic trails.

WHAT: U12 is a skill development program aimed at improving classic and skate technique in a FUN and social team environment. Although athletes will be provided an opportunity to participate in race events, racing is optional and not a requirement in any of our programs. 

Alternative Registration Options to U12 are:

  • Jackrabbit Level 4 for a one session/week option that starts in December 

  • Jackrabbit Learn to Ski - typically for youth ages 8-15 for a one session/week option for those new to cross country skiing that starts in December.

WHEN: September 6, 2025 to March 15, 2026 (conditions dependant)

Training Program -  Tuesdays 6:30 - 8pm

Saturdays 10am - 12pm

  • Registration fee includes 1 race weekend

  • $650 2 day training program

Racing Program - Tuesdays 6:30 - 8pm

Thursdays 6:30 - 8pm

Saturdays 10am -12pm

  • Registration fee includes race support at all Alberta Cup weekends

  • $1025 3 day racing program

WHERE:

Dryland locations will vary: Gold Bar Park, Gallagher Park, Kinsmen Park & other locations communicated to participants.

On snow location: Gold Bar Park, Goldstick Park, Capilano Park

ADDITIONAL COSTS:

ENSC Membership, NC/NA Membership, optional training camps and race events.

EQUIPMENT:

  • Skis – classic and skate skis, combi skis are not recommended

  • Boots – combi boots are acceptable

  • Poles – classic poles, skate poles, ski striding poles

  • Headlamp

  • Roller Skis and helmet – rentals available through ENSC

  • Rock skis are not mandatory but can be useful for early and late season training
