March Update

The ski season is drawing to a close, but there is still snow, and a race or two to look forward to. “Nationals” starts Monday the 17th and goes until the 23rd and are right in our “backyard’ this year; Canmore. Because they are so close, more ENSC skiers are able to attend. The Sovereign to SilverStar event, the first weekend in April, will see some ENSC skiers make the trek to Vernon BC for two days of spectacular skiing. Even if racing isn’t your thing, there is plenty of snow at major ski centres like Canmore, Lake Louise, Hinton, not to mention SilverStar and Callaghan Valley (both in BC), if you don’t mind a bit of travelling.

It was so good to see so many new faces racing at AB Cups and AYC this year, especially from the TA and YD groups. And this would not have been the positive experience it was if not for coaches like Gerhardt, Emma, Lilla, Allison, Anand, Anders, and Adam giving their time to lead, herd, guide, cheer, and ensure that skiers were warmed up and at the start (when they were supposed to be there) with all their equipment and fast skis on hand, no, their feet! If you haven’t heard, a big, big CONGRATULATIONS to Gerhard Klann for being named Nordiq Alberta’s Coach of the Year 2024-25!!

As this season ends, the new season is on the horizon. It is said that “skiers are made in the summer”, meaning that the foundation for the winter is laid down during the warm summer months. As such plans are in swing to offer comprehensive and diverse summer training experiences for (mostly) our youth, U14 to U23. Stay tuned!

Finally, our website will have a new look, and some new features and offerings. Stay tuned as this promises to be something very special!
